Water Resources Management

The Regional Environmental Programme for Sustainable Development of Central Asia (REP4SD) emphasizes the sustainable use and protection of water resources as a cornerstone for regional stability and development. Given the arid climate and increasing environmental pressures, efficient water governance, integrated resource management, and improved access to water-related data are critical.

This section of the database brings together key strategies, best practices, and project outcomes aligned with REP4SD Priority Area 2, aiming to support the sustainable management of water ecosystems, prevent degradation, and foster transboundary cooperation. These materials serve as a knowledge base to advance the achievement of SDG 6 across Central Asia.

The following materials are uploaded to the database:

The training manual “Integration of Climate Change Adaptation into Water Resources Planning in Turkmenistan”

The training manual was developed by the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia (SIC ICWC) and the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development (SIC ICSD) within the framework of the UNDP/GEF project “Advancing the National Adaptation Planning Process in Turkmenistan” (NAP).
