Turkmenistan's Chairmanship in ICSD:
During the Chairmanship the following ICSD meetings were conducted:
27th ICSD Meeting held in Ashgabat (June 2015) endorsed the Concept of Turkmenistan’s Chairmanship in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea; approved Work Plans for the follow-up submission to the ICSD Chair; mandated the ICSD Secretariat to draft Regulatory instruments for organizing the ICSD meetings and related reporting formats; initiated to conduct consultations with Central Asian Member States, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNEP, and other partners on establishing a Regional Centre for Climate Change Technologies; approved upgrades to the ICSD Eco-Portal; supported a proposal of UNEP-UNECE on developing an overview of green economy transition and air quality in Central Asian States, aligning with the Agenda for the development for the period after 2015 including Sustainable Development Goals within the preparatory process for the “Environment for Europe” Conference (June 2016, Batumi).

28th ICSD Meeting held in Ashgabat (May 2016) took note on the information of ratification progress of the Framework Convention on Environmental Protection for Sustainable Development in Central Asia and possible options for budget formation; reviewed the mid-term renewable energy development programme in Central Asian countries, prepared by the Central Asian Regenal Center for Renewable Energy (CA RCR) with the support of the European Union’s CASEP Programmet; welcomed UNEP-RM CCA draft of the "Overview on climate adaptation in mountain ecosystems of Central Asia"; welcomed UNECE report on the activities of the Coordination Group for improving access to information on water and energy resources, the environment, and hydrometeorology; signed MoU between GIZ and SIC ICSD; MoU between UNEP and ICSD; recognized the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (RECCA)’s 15-year contributions to environment protection and sustainable development in Central Asia; suported a joint initiative by ICSD, UNEP, UNECE, and CAREC to prepare Central Asian states for the 8th “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference (Batumi, June 2016), including holding a regional side event on “Greening Economies for Sustainable Development in Central Asia: Achievements and Future Steps.”

29th ICSD Meeting held in Ashgabat (June 2017) during which ICSD bodies were tasked with submitting reports on the work carried out during Turkmenistan’s Chairmanship; request to be submitted to Central Asian countries for approving a proposal to amend the SIC ICSD Statute; as part of the updating process of REAP, the meeting mandated the development of the Regional Environmental Protection Programme for Sustainable Development in Central Asia; agreed to distribute the draft of "Regulations on the Consultative Council of the ICSD" and the draft "Rules of Procedure for the Meetings of the ICSD" to the countries of Central Asia for harmonization; supported RMCCA, in collaboration with UNEP and GIZ and with the involvement of all regional countries, to continue developing the “Regional Guidelines on Ecosystem-Based Climate Change Adaptation in Mountainous Areas of Central Asia.”
