Regional Environmental Programme for Sustainable Development of Central Asia (REP4SD CA) for 2020-2030
The Regional Environmental Programme for Sustainable Development in Central Asia (REP4SD CA) is a strategic, framework document that defines priority areas for regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection until 2030. Its long-term character ensures greater alignment with national strategic priorities and state programmes in the field of environment, while fostering an enabling environment for achieving environment-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the region.
From the Joint Communiqué of the Heads of State Founders of IFAS, 24 August 2018: ... “The Presidents welcomed the development of the Regional Environmental Programme for Sustainable Development in Central Asia, aimed at the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and relevant UN environmental conventions, the promotion of green economy principles, and adaptation to climate change.” |
The Programme was officially endorsed by the Central Asian countries in accordance with their respective national procedures:
- Republic of Uzbekistan – 24 October 2019
- Turkmenistan – 2 February 2021
- Republic of Tajikistan – 19 May 2021
- Republic of Kazakhstan – 22 September 2021
The REPSD CA contributes to the implementation of the following priority UN Sustainable Development Goals, through the support of regional and/or multilateral projects and initiatives of the Central Asian countries:
The Sustainable Development Goals (as referenced above) are reflected with varying degrees of emphasis depending on the frequency of their inclusion in the REP4SD.
