Target 6

Priority area No 6 of REP4SD dedicated to SDG 17: “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development”

Based on the assessment conducted within REP4SD CA, the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development (ICSD) recommends that all projects operating in Central Asian countries focus their efforts on the following priorities and outcomes:

6.1 Involvement of the region into implementation of global environmental conventions, programmes and initiatives. 
6.2 Strengthening of cooperation among international organizations and regional and national institutions for better access to new technologies, preparation of legal and regulatory frameworks, development and implementation of national and regional strategies and plans and development of sustainable financing opportunities.
6.3 Strengthening of legal, institutional and technical frameworks of the ICSD and its bodies to ensure the implementation of regional programmes and projects, organization of environmental monitoring in Central Asia, and cooperation with other regional and international organizations for the sustainable development of Central Asia. 
6.4 Development of guidelines and standards for establishing strategic environmental assessment (SEA) on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.
6.5 Conducting joint activities for the protection and conservation of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites. 
6.6 Organization of thematic campaigns in Central Asian countries, such as “Waste-free City”, etc. under the leadership of ICSD and environmental agencies.
6.7 Promotion of the “South-South” cooperation on issues related to environment and “green economy”.
