Priority Area No 2 dedicated to SDG 6 on "Ensure Availability and Sustainable Management of Water and Sanitation for All"
Priority Area No. 2 of the REP4SD CA is aimed at supporting SDG 6, which underscores the importance of ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all. This priority extends beyond access to water, emphasizing sustainable water resource management that integrates ecological considerations. Achieving this goal requires a comprehensive approach, including wastewater treatment, knowledge exchange, enhanced monitoring, and ecosystem protection. Addressing these challenges necessitates collaborative efforts, innovation, and a sustainable approach to water governance.
Based on the assessment conducted within REP4SD CA, the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development recommends that all projects operating in Central Asian countries focus their efforts on the following priorities and outcomes:
2.1 | Development of a regional database on the exchange of best practices and adoption of modern technologies for treatment and reuse of wastewater and sludge disposal. |
2.2 | Ensuring efficiency of water quality monitoring in the Aral Sea Basin. |
2.3 | Analysis of anthropogenic and natural impacts on environment to prevent ecosystem degradation in Central Asia, including water ecosystems. |
