1995-1998 First meetings

First Meetings of ICSD

On 26 March 1993, during the meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia held in Kyzylorda, the Agreement on Joint Actions to Address the Problems of the Aral Sea and the Aral Sea Region, Environmental Rehabilitation, and the Socio-Economic Development of the Aral Sea Region was signed. Under this Agreement, the Commission on Socio-Economic Development, Scientific, Technical and Environmental Cooperation was established, serving as the predecessor of the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (ICSD).

Between 1994 and 1998, the Commission held the following meetings:

During these meetings, the Commission reviewed the key environmental and socio-economic challenges inherited from previous periods, formulated and approved work programmes for the forthcoming periods, and adopted the corresponding decisions to guide regional cooperation and sustainable development efforts.
