Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 12 May 2025 — Representatives of the Scientific-Information Centre of the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (SIC ICSD) actively participated in the regional seminar titled "Strengthening the Role of Youth and Women in Addressing Climate-Related Risks in Turkmenistan and Central Asia." The event was organized by the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) and the World Bank, in partnership with the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), within the framework of the 7th Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025).
The seminar brought together representatives of international organizations, experts, and youth environmental activists to discuss ways to enhance the engagement of women and young people in strengthening climate resilience and implementing climate solutions at both local and regional levels.

Participants explored key aspects of the international and national climate agenda, learned from successful examples of women-led and youth-driven environmental activism, and were introduced to educational initiatives and regional youth platforms such as LCOY and RCOY. Through a series of facilitated sessions and group exercises, university students, eco-activists, and experts from all five Central Asian countries jointly identified climate-related risks and proposed adaptation and mitigation measures, taking into account national contexts. Youth representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan shared successful experiences of involvement in environmental initiatives.
A notable contribution of SIC ICSD to the seminar was its role as co-moderator of the youth session, as well as in collecting proposals and ideas put forward by young participants.
On 13 May, during the CACCC session on “Climate Action by Civil Society and Youth in Central Asia,” youth participants presented the innovative solutions developed during the seminar.
