ICSD Prepares for High-Level Meetings: Priorities and Agenda Discussed


Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 10 June 2025 – An online coordination meeting of the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development's (ICSD) bodies was held, bringing together representatives of the ICSD Secretariat and national bodies of the Scientific-Information Centre of ICSD (SIC ICSD) as well as Regional Mountain Centre to align work plans for the second half of 2025 and prepare for the upcoming Fifth Meeting of the ICSD Consultative Council and the 34th ICSD Meeting, scheduled to take place in late August in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, participants reviewed key organizational and substantive matters in preparation for the high-level events. Special attention was given to aligning the draft agenda, including updates on initiatives under the Regional Environmental Programme for Sustainable Development in Central Asia (REP4SD), and ensuring the engagement of international partners, academic institutions, and civil society organizations.

The meeting also focused on preparations for the upcoming discussions in Dushanbe concerning the roadmap for implementing the ICSD decisions developed during previous Consultative Council meetings, as well as advancing new proposals in priority areas of regional environmental cooperation.

Participants reaffirmed the importance of consolidating efforts across all ICSD entities, ensuring the quality and consistency of background materials, and reaching coordinated approaches to support the sustainable development agenda of the region.


The event supports the achievement of:

Priority area No 6 of REP4SD dedicated to SDG 17: “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development”
6.3   Strengthening of legal, institutional and technical frameworks of the ICSD and its bodies to ensure the implementation of regional programmes and projects, organization of environmental monitoring in Central Asia, and cooperation with other regional and international organizations for the sustainable development of Central Asia.
